My final product meets the client brief as the sports
magazine is for the local area and discusses a problem that is occurring. I created
my front cover in Photoshop. This was a great tool to use as it had all the
features I needed to use to create my final product. I was able to easily edit
the photo to achieve the black and white with the spot colour for the boxing
gloves and was also able to create all of the text and logos for the cover. I
then created my double page spread in adobe in design. This software was great
to use as it is very professional and also had all of the right features to use
like giving me columns to write in. both final pieces have been saved in a JPEG
format this is beneficial as I will be able to upload this file online as well
as printing it. As my proposal stated that I also wanted to distribute my magazine
online.

P3 - Gantt Chart
Proposal - here I will be creating my proposal, this will tell me what I am required to do for my project. This will work as my project plan.

Survey
i had created a survey and had sent it to a large group of people and told them it was about a new boxing magazine. as you can see 100% of people who had taken the survey are male. this has shown me that there are more males interested in this subject than females.
only 60% of the people would read a boxing magazine.
all of my audience live in the maghull area. this is what i want as my magazine will be based locally.
M4 - front cover and double page spread
the finished magazine will be uploaded online as a JPEG file and will also be printed and distributed in local shops. the JPEG file is used for online and electronic distribution as it is saves the image and is still a good size and will be easy to see and read.
P4 - Double page spread interview
Original interview
Tell
me a little bit about yourself?
My name is Jay Griff, I am 18 years old and
live in the maghull area. I currently attend deyes Sixth form.
How
old were you when you started boxing?
I first started boxing at aged 15 which is
a difficult age to start boxing as most people start around aged 9.
Has
boxing helped you in any way?
Boxing has helped me in many ways. It is a
great stress relief, especially with college. It has also kept me fit and
healthy which I can’t complain about. Boxing is a much disciplined sport and it
has taught me a lot of respect which I didn’t have originally. Growing up I
always got into trouble and mixed with people I shouldn’t. I believe the
southpaw boxing gym has kept me out of trouble and has raised me to be who I am
today. I would even go as far to say “boxing saved me!”
What
is the boxing Gym doing for the local community?
The southpaw boxing gym is doing a lot for
the community. It isn’t just getting youths out of trouble but its holding free
classes for over 50s to keep the elderly in shape and healthy. They also hold
fundraising events to spend money on cleaning the town of litter and graffiti.
Would
you recommend boxing to others?
I think that people should try out boxing.
It keeps you focused and can teach you a lot. You learn something new every day
and is a great way to meet new people.
Finished
“My name is Jay Griff, I am
18 years old and live in the maghull area. I currently attend deyes Sixth form.”
Jay Griff is an 18-year-old aspiring boxer
from Maghull. His life currently consists of his boozing training whilst
attending school frequently at Deyes Sixth form. Jay started to participate in
local boxing classes at the Southpaw gym in Maghull. He first started at the
age of 15 which he says is “a difficult age to start boxing as most
people start around aged 9.”
“Boxing has helped me in many ways.” Jay thinks of boxing as a really good and effective way to relieve
stress. Which really helps with his school life. “it has also kept me fit and
healthy, which I can’t complain about.”
Jay also reveals that boxing is a very
disciplined sport and has taught him a lot of respect that he didn’t posses
growing up. He believes that the southpaw boxing gym has created who he is
today and would even comment “boxing saved me!”
It appears that the boxing gym isn’t just
picking troubled teens of the local streets. It is also throwing them back out them
to make a difference. The gym holds many fundraisers that are open to all. This
money is being used on cleaning the town of litter and graffiti. It also helps
run an over 50s class which is free to all over 50’s as the owner and students
believe everyone should be able to do their sport.
“I think that people should try boxing.” The sport keeps you focused and can benefit you with a lot of knowledge
and skill that you didn’t have before. Throughout the time that Jay has
attended he says he learns something new every single day and has made a great number
of new friends.
M2 – Legal and Ethical Issues
M2 – Legal and Ethical Issues
Legal
To ensure that I stay within the legal requirements I will
be creating all of my content myself. This will stop me from breaking any laws
like copyright as I have the rights to my own images and are free to use them
how I want to and when I want to. This will help me avoid facing criminal charges
like fines or imprisonment.
Ethical
I must make that I have permissions for my images and
interviews. The people who I am interviewing, and photographing must agree so
that I can use their face or text on my magazine. I must be careful taking my
images so that no one else is present in the shot. If someone accidentally gets
in the images I must ask if it is okay if they are used. If they do not agree I
will have to take my photos again. I will not be creating a location form as the location will be in my houses. I therefore do not need permissions to use the property.
risk assessment -
floors may be wet and may need a sign.
wires must be covers so that people do not fall over them.
If photo model has any medical conditions we must have a paramedic at the scene.
P3 - SWOT analysis
P3 – Swot analysis
Strength
I think that a strength to my magazine will be how it is a
good form for the local community to get involved with a sport. This will also
inform the local area on fund raisers that they will be starting. This will
mainly be aimed towards men as the gender demographic for my magazine consists
of males. Another strength will be that my magazine will be easy to create as
it is only going to showcase an interview, boxing tips and news which will be
presented with mainly images and bullet points.
Weakness
A weakness to the magazine is that the demographic for women
will not be as interested in the magazine as it is a male dominated sport and
therefore may not buy my product. Another weakness is that I will have to book
someone for a photoshoot which is very time consuming and may have to be held
over a period of time to make sure the images are perfect.
Opportunities
An opportunity to making my magazine is that I will be able
to research boxing photography, so I can learn what makes a good boxing
portrait photo.
Target
The target is to make a boxing magazine for a local gym and training
center and to showcase what they do to help the local community as the client brief
has instructed. I would like for my magazine to be dark in colour with spotted colours
like red throughout so that it can draw attention as it is different.
